They had boarded Sant Claus' ship, and now
Were preparing to fight, but they had quite a row,
When they found, after looking all over the deck,
Not a cannon, or gun, nor of powder a speck.
Old Santa Claus chuckled and said, "The Rips,
Who ever heard of such things on toy ships?"
And they hurried the children all down below,
And lashed the guns fast to the starboard bow.
Pa Pirate and Santa worked with all haste;
They primed the big cannon all ready to paste
The blood-thirsty pirates, who were working like sin,
Hauling great bags up the Yards-Arms so thin.
What they had in those bags not a soul there knew–
None could tell, but that bold bad Pirate Crew,
But just as they all were scrambling alof',
Pa Pirate shot one of the cannons off.
And OH! Such a noise! And Oh! Such a sight!
One Pirate fell with all of his might;
And he lit ker-swatt on a big base-drum,
And the rest of ‘em thought ‘twas another gun.
