When the pirate family stepped on board,
The Captain, Pa Pirate, shone like a lord;
And the pirate crew with great respect
All bowed so low they bumped the deck.
Then pacing the deck, with a voice loud and bold,
Pa Pirate shouted commands as of old;
But the Pirate Kids got weak in the knees,
As they spied the Black Flag floating free in the Breeze.
At supper that eve'ning their fears were stayed
By watching the faces the pirates made,
As they tried to gobble up all the food
By eating with knives, which was awfully rude.
And then one and all, after saying their prayers,
We cuddled away in their bunks downstairs.
When wee sleepy Ted was asked about Christmas,
He said, "On this ocean Old Santa'll sure miss us."
As the night came on the wind came up;
But the brig rode the sea like a little tin cup;
Away to the North, with all sail set,
After the biggest and richest prize yet.
And so with all aboard made tight,
The Jolly Jane rode away in the night;
While down in the hold not a ren-e-gade
But what was drinking his red lem-o-nade.

When the kids came on deck that Christmas morn,
Greeting their eyes was a sight forlorn.
A whole ship-load of little poor children,
Had been caught, and papa no quarter had given.
Then as each wee tad toddled out on the plank,
Pa Pirate gave each one a big sounding spank
With the flat of his sword, not hurting a speck,
But sending them spinning clear onto the deck.
